Prosperis spreads Brazilian magic at Leeds school

The team at Prosperis Limited brought a touch of Brazil to an inner-city primary school this term, by sponsoring a course of Brazilian Soccer School coaching sessions.

Over 25 seven and eight year olds at St Augustine’s Primary School in Gipton, Leeds, are enjoying the free soccer sessions, held every Friday afternoon after school. The children are coached by Brazilian Soccer School coaches from Garforth Town AFC, including team members Seb Muddel and Duncan Williams.

Brazilian Soccer School coaching focuses on developing children’s personal skills and allowing each child equal time with a ball. The Schools are the brainchild of Simon Clifford, owner and manager of Garforth Town AFC, and they rely on sponsorship from companies such as Prosperis to carry out free coaching sessions in deprived areas.

Niall Gunn, corporate director of Prosperis, attended a session at St Augustine’s on Friday 22 February, and was delighted to see the difference the Soccer sessions were making.

“It’s really exciting to see the impact our sponsorship is having on this school. The children have benefited from free coaching sessions which are keeping them active, getting them outside, and developing their football skills. We’re really committed to making a difference, and where better to start than in our local community”.

Brazilian School Soccer coach George Williams said: “The response to the sessions at St Augustine’s has been amazing - at the beginning of term around 10 children attended, and that number has now grown to over 25. We’d like to thank Prosperis for supporting our work at St Augustine’s, it’s made a real difference “
