Staff at Prosperis received a trophy presented here by David Blunkett in recogniiton of their efforts raising money as one of 100 teams taking part in the Halliwells Cavendish Corporate Challenge.
The team recruited veteran fundraiser Sir Jimmy Savile to help them raise over £6,500 with their £1 coin 'Money Snake’ for the Cavendish Cancer Support Centre in Sheffield.
Sir Jim launched the Prosperis push with a personal pledge of £500 which represented the first 10 metres of money snake and our first corporate sponsor, Scottish Equitable plc then slithered in with £1,000 building a further 20 meters!
Total monies raised by the Challenge topped £150,000 and the Prosperis team were delighted to receive the runners up award for innovation and team effort.
Prosperis staff spent two gruelling days at the Meadowhall Centre in Sheffield drumming up support from the shoppers - an effort that involved our very own singing buskers, a giant snakes and ladders board and the chance to win a Smart car kindly donated by smart, Sheffield. Although it was hard work for all, the the final result made it all worthwhile.
All fund raising efforts went to the Cavendish Centre in Sheffield which provides supportive care to cancer sufferers and their families. Find more information at www.cavcare.org
